Neumann’s KMR81i utilizes the blend of an interference tube and a pressure gradient transducer; the microphone functions as a pressure gradient transducer, if the wavelength of the frequency is longer than the tube length. It works as an interference transducer for lateral sound at higher frequencies. Plus, off axis sound is picked up with lower level, but sans coloration.
